No worries though, it seems Shandong province have the situation under control with their pick up trucks with a rocket launcher strapped to the back to seed clouds with silver iodine. Interestingly provincial governments have been having arguments as to who the rain actually belongs to before it has actually rained.

Qingdao and Shandong government are eager to promote domestic and international trade between interior Chinese provinces and also between China and its regional neighbours, specifically Korea. Thus they have laid down plans to expand on the recently completed 5.4 billion USD bridge that was recently completed between Qingdao and Huangdao, and plan to build an even bigger one that will connect Shandong province with Liaoning province.

Shandong’s peninsula has the capital of Jinan in the West and the two international ports of Qingdao and Yantai in the South and North, it is planned for Yantai to build an oversea bridge to connect Yantai with Dalian city, the bridge will span 183km to reach Dalian city center and will cut out the need for ferries to take trucks across the Bohai sea and will eliminate a lengthy detour around China’s coast.

Other plans include an undersea tunnel, like the Euro tunnel that connects England and France, that would see Korea linked to Shandong province. No timing has been made clear for the project, and its unclear if South Korea has agreed to sign up to the project as of yet. We can

On the 11th January in Qingdao city at 6pm Ms. Han was driving home from work with her husband at the wheel, they wanted to park their Buick Regal alongside the river, except the husband confused the brake and accelerator pedals when reversing. The result being that the unnamed husband jumped up the sidewalk and through a set of concrete barriers diving down into the ice cold river – thankfully due to it being winter the river was a mere trickle but still covered in ice, the car ended up directly in the middle of the river.

Other than losing the cars bumper, the Buick was mostly okay the driver even drove on the frozen river bed looking for a way out, but the only way out was to call the police who called in a crane to lift the strucken car out, the driver underwent a breathalyzer test at the side of the road, whilst Ms. Han was rushed to hospital with light injuries.

Ever wanted to fight the law? One Hubei man decided that he had had enough of the Po-Po and smashed up a police car that was parked outside of a local police station, thankfully nobody was hurt in the smashing melee.

The police meat wagon was parked outside of the cop shop with its tail to the door, around 10:30am a digger came up the road and suddenly turned, aiming its bucket squarely at the police van, the digger then pushed the van into the police station and then tried to flee, but not before flipping over another car.

Diggers do not make for the best get away, and the 34 year old driver was swiftly caught, apparently he was upset with his cousin who works at the police station after a family quarrel after the offender crashed his brother in law’s car, clearly driving is not a profession that this man should take up, at all.

The vast structure links the centre of the booming port city of Qingdao in eastern China‘s Shandong Province with the suburb of Huangdao, spanning the wide blue waters of Jiaozhou Bay.

Built in just four years at a cost of £5.5 billion, the sheer scale of the bridge reveals the advances made by Chinese engineers in recent years.

No longer dependant on western expertise for such sophisticated projects, the six-lane road bridge is supported by more than 5,200 columns and was designed by the Shandong Gausu Group. When it opens to traffic later this year, the bridge is expected to carry over 30,000 cars a day and will cut the commute between the city of Qingdao and the sprawling suburb of Huangdao by between 20 and 30 minutes.

At least 10,000 workers toiled in two teams around the clock to build the bridge, which was constructed from opposite ends and connected in the middle in the last few days.
